Idea

2017 during a journey to the Dominican Republic, an initial contact was set up in Puerto Plata with a group of Dominican doctors and nurses who are committed to providing health care to poor sections of the population.

As a result, a student project at the Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences developed the idea of focusing on primary health care in the Dominican Republic. Using the example of the concrete project in Puerto Plata, sustainable structures for improved health care are promoted and supported. It is important to us that we support the already existing structures, but that they can be supported by the actors in the country itself.

In order to sustainably support the implementation of the idea, we founded the association “Dominican Health e.V.”.
